Steps to becoming a developer partner

1. Register with us

Please read through the steps below to understand requirements of becoming a developer partner. Steps 1 and 2 must be completed prior to registering your interest as a developer partner.

  • If you have questions about Xero’s API Ecosystem we have a wealth of information here on our developer website as well as our developer forums.

  • If you have questions or concerns about your specific use case, please refer to our how-to guides, Developer Platform Terms & Conditions and our Terms of Agreement.

  • If you haven’t been able to resolve your query, please email, the API Tech Support team or a Developer Evangelist will be able to advise you.

Sign up using the form below and we’ll be in touch to offer help & knowledge for your integration.

2. Ensure you are familiar with both Xero and the Xero API

Sign up for a free Xero account, then use a free trial organisation or a Xero demo company to learn more about how the product works. Ideally you should be a Xero customer so you are thoroughly familiar with the day-to-day workings of Xero. Learn more about getting started with Xero.

Start by reading our getting started guide for developers and signing up for either a free trial of Xero, or use a Xero demo company to learn more about how the product works. Here you’ll find information about how to sign up for a free Xero demo account and details about our developer API.

3. Complete at least two Xero API integration projects

We require an approved developer to have at least 2 integration projects completed with clients that are happy to act as a reference. Our preference would be to be able to check our logs for any errors, and drop an email to the project client and get confirmation everything is working well for them. If you are having difficulty finding initial projects to get started with, you can check out our forums for opportunities or post up some details on your capabilities.

4. Landing page

When we’re comfortable you’ve completed our requirements above we’ll send you some brand guidelines detailing how you can use the Xero logo etc on your marketing material, website etc. You’ll need to produce a landing page for your website which contains details of:

  • Services you provide

  • Link to at least one case study based on a Xero integration project

  • The official Xero Developer logo

5. Publicise your status

We will work with you on creating a listing in our App marketplace. We also need to make sure our sales and support teams are aware of your integration. Please supply us with the following:

  • A copy of your logo for your listing in the Xero app marketplace. Our preferred file formats are .svg, .ai or .eps. However if you can’t supply these, high resolution .png, .jpeg or .pdf file formats are acceptable.

  • Your logo will be displayed in white on a coloured background of your choosing. Please supply us with the HEX code for the background colour, eg. #13b5ea.

  • Description text: maximum length of 150 characters including spaces.

We’re here to help so if you have any questions about becoming a partner please let us know.
