App marketplace FAQs


The Xero app marketplace is where we showcase your app to the world. To help you understand how it works, we’ve pulled together a list of the most common questions we get from our app partners.

How do I get listed in the app marketplace?

All app partners listed on the app marketplace must have successfully completed Xero’s app partner certification and maintain at least five customers actively using Xero.

How is my position in the app marketplace determined?

Apps that qualify as Xero recommended and preferred apps in our app partner program take priority for being displayed as a featured listing. That’s a listing that has a visible tile on the app marketplace home page. After this, apps are ordered based on their number of active connections: the more you have, the higher your app will appear in the marketplace.

How can I improve my position in the app marketplace?

You can improve your listing by increasing the number of active connections you have or by moving up the tiers in the app partner program. You can find information about each tier here.

How are apps categorised in the app marketplace?

The default view on the app marketplace is to group apps according to their function. Each app can appear in a maximum of two categories. Apps can also be viewed by business type. If your app addresses the needs of a specific industry, such as construction or retail, it’ll be added into the appropriate category. If an app meets the needs of a broad range of industries, it won’t be displayed under a specific business type.

Can a new category be created for my app?

While we can’t create a new category specifically for you, we will help you to determine which category fits your app best.

Where does my app marketplace rating come from?

Xero subscribers review their Xero integrated apps on our community site. The number of ratings and the rating average is then pulled through onto your marketplace tile. Xero’s app partners can respond to reviews on the community site by requesting access here. For any other questions about ratings and reviews, refer to our ratings and review guide.

How do I get a feature page?

App partners who qualify for a feature page will be sent a template to fill out and return to us, so we can build one for you. We plan to roll out feature pages for all of our partners in the coming months. If you don’t have one yet, don’t worry, we’ll be in touch when we’re ready to build yours.

Who do I contact to update something on my app marketplace feature page or tile?

If you have a named Xero partner manager, you should contact them in the first instance. All other app partners should send their request to api@xero.com.

Can my listing on the marketplace have specific content for the different regions I operate in?

Currently we’re unable to offer this capability.
